Out of the recent special edition VW's, the Golf R Spektrum program is the coolest of them all. The program allowed North American customers to choose from 44 special order paint colors. The Spektrum program began in Canada for the 2017 model year e-Golf, and after customer and enthusiast feedback, VWoA decided to bring the program to the U.S. for 2019 Golf R. Each car was hand-sprayed in a separate paint shop before returning to the line for finishing touches.
None of this would have been possible without Megan Closset, who managed the Golf product lineup at the time for VWoA. A lifelong VW enthusiast, Megan has played a huge role in bridging the gap between the enthusiast community and VW corporate - she managed the Spektrum program (including handwriting notes to every single customer!), fought to save manual transmissions at VW, and is regularly seen at shows and participating in enthusiast conversations online.
The Full Spektrum is a celebration of the Spektrum program and the enthusiast who helped make it happen, printed 24x18 inches on heavy, matte-finish stock.
