These M3 touring car prints are the result of an ongoing, extensive research project into one of the most exciting periods in motorsport. From 1987-1993, the BMW M3 ruled the touring car world, winning championships all over the globe - and there were plenty of opportunities. There were major touring car championships contested all over Europe (BTCC, CIVT, DTM, ETCC, WTCC), as well as in Japan and Australia.
Belgium, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands and New Zealand also had touring car series during this time. There were several notable standalone events as well, including 24 hour races at Spa and the Nürburgring, and the Macau Guia race.
We started with the 12 major championship-winning cars, which are available as a standalone print, or as part of the 18-car Expanded Champs and full 35-car Expanded prints (noted with gold ink). The revised for 2016 24-car print shows a nice representation of cars across the years, and the new 18-car Expanded Champs print features the original 12 major championship cars, plus 6 brand new race and class champions (noted with silver ink).
The full 35-car Expanded version features the 18 cars from the Expanded Champs print, along with 17 other notable liveries from around the world. We’ve tried to paint a broad picture that represents the various wins, years and series well. And if the aforementioned layouts don’t suit, we’re now offering a “pick-5” option - choose any 5 cars for a custom layout. All you need to do is make a note with your selections in the comments section at checkout.
