    Pic of the Day

    Link of the Day

While doing some research for the E30M design I stumbled onto a really cool site that documents European Touring Car racing, starting in the 60’s and working it’s way up to the 90’s. Nestled within that span was the golden age of European touring car racing in the humble opinion of yours truly. BMW 635CSis and M3s, Mercedes 190s, Alfas, Cosworth Fords and on and on. The site is extremely thorough, documenting each race with a brief synopsis, including results, as well as a ton of awesome photos. It’s a really great read if you’re a motorsports history nerd.

Take some time to poke around Touring Car Racing History , there’s enough info on it to keep you busy for a full work week I’d say.

Here are some samples of the machinery waging war in the mid 80’s:

I have a feeling this site will inspire some more 8380 Unbesiegt designs in the near future.

    New E30M Design PreOrder!

After the success of the E30 Technik design (don’t worry there will be more soon), it was time to expand the line to include big brother. Not just any M3 though, the world-beating Touring Car. The 1987 World Touring Car Championship was the first year for the series, and won by Roberto Ravaglia in an M3. This was also the M3’s first year racing, and although the series itself was controversial, it was just the first in a long line of touring car championships for the E30 all over the world.

The design comes in both tee and hoodie and displays an M3 workin’ hard on the front, documenting all the races it won in the WTCC that year, which just so happens to be all but one! There is also a print on the back neck. The Preorder begins today and goes through November 5th.

Look for more 8380 Unbesiegt racing heritage-inspired designs coming this winter!

    Promo Packs Work.

Since we started doing the Promo Packs we’ve gotten some pretty good feedback. Spotted a lot of air fresheners in person at shows and on Vortex in pics. Here’s a little photo documentation of Promo Pack #2 earning it’s keep, this was too good to pass up:

Matt, we’re gonna send you a few spare rags for being a BAMF.

    H20 Recap

This past weekend the car show season ended with its annual big bang, H2O in Ocean City, MD. People literally drive from all over the country to converge on this single spot for a long weekend of hanging out with friends, dope cars and shenanigans. The show has grown a lot over the last few years and this year was no different. In fact, the growth seemed to be exponential this year. There was a MASSIVE amount of really nice cars to take in, whether it was the show on Sunday, cruising around town, or parked at the numerous get togethers. It was pretty much impossible to see it all.

The 8380 crew headed down Friday morning for the long weekend. Things at the show booth were nothing short of hectic all weekend due to the insane volume of people who made it down for the event this year. It was hard keeping up with everyone, a good problem to have!

I’m going to try to sum up 8380 H20 experience in somewhat of a chronological order, most of which should be pretty self-explanatory.

It was a great way to end the season. We hung out, worked hard, caught up with friends, and generally had an awesome time in a great environment. It’s really a pretty amazing experience and one we will do our best to never miss. Time to park the cars and start hoarding parts for next spring…

    ’Til next year.

    Branching Out a Bit

We just dropped a PreOrder today for the new E36M design, which is slightly uncharted waters for us. We’re trying to branch out a bit further on the Bavarian side of things, and figured this was a great place to start. The PreOrder ends September 30th, and as usual a couple weeks after that the inventory will appear in the Shop.

Now seems like as good a time as any to mention that one of the reasons for our continued expansion is our Supporting Vendor status on Bimmerforums! Our screen name is “8380 Labs”, so if you are on there keep your eyes peeled for us. This is one of the larger all-encompassing BMW message boards, a la VWVortex with VWs, so we’re hoping it’ll be a good place to set down some roots.

    Anyway, here it is!

    PreOrder ’em in the Shop!
